About Us It was the year 1873 and I began my illustrious career as a transmission rebuilder. I had all the skills and confidence in the world. I knew all there was to know about transmissions and any unit I built would last forever. One small problem... It was 1872 and most people had horse drawn carriages so my skills as a transmission builder were quite useless... On a more serious note...     Hello, I'm Fernando, Owner of Transmission Physicians. I wasn't around in 1873. I waited another 100 years to be born. I started working on transmissions in my fathers shop when I was only 12 years old. The school bus would drop me off at the shop and I would work until the end of the day. I didn't make any money (thanks Dad) but I learned a ton. At that time, the TH350 transmission reigned supreme and I built a ton of them. But I was just a kid. Later in life I grew up and opened my own shop. Technology changed in a hurry and I was young and enthusiastic enough to change with it. I enjoyed working with the modern cars and I was excited when things started getting more and more electronic. My dad on the other hand was getting older and resisted change. He was still stuck in the 60's. Most old guys are. He resented the new technology, I didn't. Why am I telling you this? Because right now, you're probably looking for a shop to build you a transmission, and you're trying to choose the right guy for the job. I'm just trying to help you make the right choice. Who do you want? The OLD guy that is stuck in the 60's and longs for the day that the carburetor makes a comeback? Or would you rather take your car to the guy that works on modern cars and enjoys it? Our shop revolves around modern technology. We like to work on late model cars. We don't claim to be experts with Powerglides, and we won't touch a carburetor. We like to grow with the industry and get to know the MODERN transmissions. Where most OLD guys look at your transmission and tell you it's a piece of junk, we have a different outlook. We think they are a technological marvel and have TONS more potential than the old guys give them credit for. We know what the new technology can do. We have learned how it works, and we continue to work towards improving on it. We do research at our own expense, in our own cars to try to bring you the best possible product. We stand behind our product... NO MATTER WHAT. How many guys have had their transmission fixed and it broke again? When the builder was asked to warranty it, he claims it failed due to abuse. Again, we have a different outlook. We KNOW you're going to abuse it. We hope you do. If you're abusing it, you're having fun. If you're having fun, you're going to tell someone about us. That's our goal. After serving many customers' transmission needs, we continually were asked to do other kinds of work. At first we resisted, but finally gave in. We've had experience with all aspects of automotive work and performance engines, so why not?
